SKWEEDISH SOUNDS FROM FLOGSTA DANSHALL

Swedish record label Flogsta Danshall continues their mass production of heavy quality sounds for the people. A new dope video for Daniel Savio's (a k a Kool Dj Dust) ”Monkey pee monkey poo” is out now, directed by David Giese (former member of the Uptown Rockers Crew). The song is taken from the album "Dirty Bomb", on release later on this year. Enjoy!

Kompis! Kompis! crate findings in Santiago de Chile, part 9

Just found this nice piece of bossa by the Brazilian vocalist Agostinho. Here is the classic "Telefone" written and composed by the dynamic duo Roberto Menescal and Ronaldo Moscoli. This version of the song is playful and tight at the same time, perfect vocals too - of course... The whole album works really nice, certainly on a payday-Friday like today, together with a Martini Bianco on the rocks in the hand!

Kompis! Kompis! crate findings in Santiago de Chile, part 8

The Isley Brother's "Work to do" is one of my all time favourite folk-soul-jams. Digging around in el barrio San Diego yesterday I found a copy with a useful cover of this tune performed by the Scottish(!?) band Average White Band - the group many seem to love to hate, for some reason... Well, I happen to like AWB's version of "Work to do", mainly because of its strong production that is more bumpy and danceable than the original version. The bass-action of founding member Alan Gorrie is the key here, and check also the beautiful guitar solo in the middle! And as usual with AWB, there's a horn section with a whole lot of testosterone - maybe to much for some orthodox funk heads out there - but hell, it works good for me!

Can You Deal With That?

When I heard Raekwon's latest joint I was struck by how great it is to hear Meth back in the game with those hard knocking rhymes like it was Tical-days again! So, I figured, what about a 2009-beat-journey from the meanest Wu-disciples to the Wu-master himself?
