It's become clear that Bonjay are about defying all odds and the latest release, a cover of "Jamelia" by Caribou, re-imagines the electronic abstract sound of Jamelia as a melancholic slice of clappy dancehall. What does that mean exactly? In true Bonjay fashion, this will be left entirely up to you to define.
The Soul-Dancehall duo with indie aesthetics also just released their first mini-album BROUGHTUPSY, available on iTunes in Canada and US as well as available on CD in stores across Canada.
Here's a new collaboration with our friends of Prendas Públicas. A mid season spring/fall collection of fashionable tracks...
Bonjay - Gimme Gimme Sana Doris - Pseudo Wind Parallel Dance Ensemble - Turtle Pizza Cadillac (Yam Who Rework) The Phenomenal Handclap Band - 15 to 20 (The Glimmers Remix) Lindstrom Christabelle - Baby Can’t Stop (Aeroplane Remix) Young And Company Dj Blaq Starr Rye Rye - Shake it to the ground (Arthur King rmx) Chromeo - My Girl is Calling Me (a liar) (Prince Klassen young professional edit) Will Eastman - Feelin’ Mr Oizo - It Takes Two (Prince Klassen edit) In Flagranti - The Swinging Co-eds aka Mädchen, die nach München kommen (original title)
The first minimix of the year maybe should wrap things up a bit but I guess this little treat is more of an attempt to start the new decade as easy as possible. Somehow it's easy to leave things behind but hard to start something new...

POIRIER Poirier (formerly known as Ghislain Poirier) is one of our all-time favorites at K!K! and we couldn't be more exited about his new release “Run the Riddim”. Still heavy & wicked big bass dance hall and this time up featuring vocalist Face-T. More info: www.ninjatune.com . Also see Poirier tracks included in the Vaskular mix from last month.
SILVAR & SERMSTYLE New stuff from one of UK's finest producers Sermstyle and artist Silvar. The production reminds a bit of the sound of Kid Cudi, Tinchy Strider and N-Dubz. Nice one! More info: www.itssilvar.co.uk
A couple of months ago I ended up at a great party in a private house in a residential hood of Santiago de Chile, where the improvised bar only sold vodka with chocolate milk (and ice) and piscola (pisco + coke + ice). We didn't know anything about the party but were quickly seduced by the banging beats and hit the sweaty and smoking hot dance floor in the patio under the stars. For the next 2-3 hours Dj Vaskular blew our minds with his top nodge mixing skills delivering the best blend I've heard in a looong time of hip hop, electro, cumbia, baile funk, house, etc... This guy is in my opinion Chile's best and most interesting Dj right now. So I hooked up with the man and now, finally, here's his first contribution to K!K! Raiiiiise the rooooof!!!

Actually, we still love what they're doing and Andy Milonakis, genius, knows the exact explanation why.
For those of you unfamiliar with Andy you should really check him out. Here's a shot with him from the recording of Major Lazer's "Zumbi" with Diplo and Switch in the studio.
